Eureka Valley

Eureka Valley

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Eureka Valley is a sub-neighborhood of the more famous Castro District.  This community is hilly, with tree-lined streets, majestic, large single-family homes, and stellar views – set back from the Castro's nightlife. Spared by the fires following the 1906 earthquake, this area initially drew waves of new immigrants and tradespeople – resulting in an abundance of small-wood frame cottages and two-story flats. Today you will find rainbow flags cheerily scattered throughout the community, as many LBGTQ families like to call this area home.

SIGHTS. CULTURE. VIBE.

The hilly terrain offers plenty of great stair walks and vista points to enjoy for an outing or as a daily constitutional. Mount Olympus is a simple treasure, while Kite Hill and Twin Peaks present heart-pumping hikes and require good walking shoes. Parking on a steep hill can be tricky – always curb your wheels!

The Castro Theatre

Highly-Rated Public Schools & Parks: Fantastic public schools, like McKinley and Harvey Milk Civil Rights Elementary School, draw various homeowners and renters to the area. Dog parks are also readily accessible for dog children and dog parents.

The Castro Theatre: Built-in 1922, the Castro Theatre is an iconic part of the community. The Art Deco masterpiece is the epitome of the Castro culture. Whether you want to see a classic or join a sing-along, this theater is worth visiting. The organ playing and introduction are one of San Francisco's many pleasures.

Dolores Park: Dolores Park is known for its sweeping views of downtown and the vibrant weekend culture.

PLACES YOU CAN GO

Centrally located, Eureka Valley has access to MUNI streetcar lines, city bus routes that head in almost every direction, and relatively smooth access to downtown and freeway entrances.
